Similarities
There are not many common symptoms between The Black Death and Malaria. This is because they are very different diseases as the Bubonic Plague is a bacterial infection and Malaria is a parasite. There are two similar symptoms and they are the victim feeling lethargic and experiencing dramatic changes in body temperatures. While these symptoms will not kill you, combined with the rest of the effects, the result is often death.
Differences
There are many differences between the symptoms of The Black Death and Malaria. A victim of the Black Death will experience swelling of the armpits and groin area, pain all over their body, black and red spot which form into buboes, and when death is near their brains will start to shut don’t which means their speech will be affected. Malaria has more broad symptoms which makes it harder for a patient with Malaria to be identified because the symptoms could be as a result of many different diseases. Someone suffering from Malaria will suffer from headaches, nausea, chills, shivering, excessive sweating, diarrhoea and anaemia. The more severe symptoms is coma and difficulty breathing. While these symptoms will not kill you, combined with the rest of the effects, the result is often death.
Comparison
The symptoms of the Black Death are definitely more severe than the symptoms of Malaria. Death came quicker to those suffering from The Black Death and this was a result of more deadly symptoms. In comparison the symptoms of Malaria seem to be much less lethal, however as the parasite continues to grow, these symptoms become more and more severe until eventually they are bad enough to become lethal. Another reason why the symptoms are so different is because the Black Death is an infection of the lymphatic system, and this effects what symptoms show.
